One very small spoiler follows.
I didn't think I would like this book at first. The main character, to me, is a bit of a Mary Sue. But, as you find out more about her world with her, you get a peek through the doorway to something bigger and more interesting. It's entertaining to figure out what is happening with her, and I found myself wanting the author to stop teasing me and get on with the secrets. I enjoyed the pacing. For that, I'll probably read the sequel when it comes out.
But, and here comes the spoiler, I got a little bit hung up because the main character falls in love at first sight. I don't believe in love at first sight. Love, to me, is a thing that has to be cultivated. It must be allowed to blossom and grow organically. While the love at first sight bit was distracting, I really did enjoy the book and I'll look forward to the sequel.
